RSX K20 Race Header 409 Series Stainless Steel | KRH-RSX-409

The objective behind designing performance headers is to enhance the flow of exhaust gases from the engine, resulting in increased power and performance. The K-Tuned RSX Header was specifically developed with this principle in mind, employing a proven 4-2-1 Tri-Y design that incorporates smooth slip fit merge transitions. These features effectively enhance exhaust flow and power output for the Honda K engine. Unlike solely benefiting the top end, the Tri-Y design typically delivers power gains across the entire power band. Our focus on fitment is equally, if not more, crucial than function. Overcoming design challenges posed by the RSX's subframe and swaybar took additional time but yielded a final fitment that was undoubtedly worth the effort. The secondary tubing effortlessly navigates through tight spaces, providing ample clearance for engine movement.

This header boasts stepped piping, commencing with 44mm primaries that gradually transition to 48mm and then 50mm secondaries, ultimately culminating in a 64mm or 2.5" exit. Our 409 Series RSX Race Header is meticulously crafted using mandrel bent, 409 series steel tubing, ensuring durability and longevity. We employ slightly thicker gauge tubing to facilitate superior weld penetration and augment overall strength. The CNC cut 3/8" thick flanges undergo double welding and precise porting to optimize flow at both the entry and exit points. Replacing the OEM 2-piece design, this header eliminates the catalytic converter, and we provide a short 2.5" test-pipe with a defouler for the secondary O2 sensor. WHY OPT FOR 409 STEEL?

After careful evaluation of the exhaust parts market, we observed numerous low-quality replicas emerging from Asian manufacturers, employing subpar, thin-gauge materials. To address this issue, we decided to take action. K-Tuned 409 Series Headers are crafted from raw 409 series steel, offering customers a cost-effective option without compromising performance and fitment. We strive to maintain the same high level of quality that our stainless steel headers have been known for over the years. The 409 Series Headers mirror our stainless steel counterparts, with the only change being the material, providing our customers with cost savings. The raw steel finish can be heat coated or painted to resist rust or left as is, allowing nature to take its course. These headers are designed for use on more functional street cars, where aesthetics take a back seat, and hoods are often opened only when necessary.

The exhaust parts market is rife with counterfeit products, misinformation, and deceptive practices. While we won't name specific companies, there are manufacturers producing replicas that claim to be made from certain materials when, in reality, the material falls far short of the advertised claims. Not all blame lies with the reseller, as there is an abundance of mystery materials coming from Asian manufacturing. What some advertise as 304 stainless steel has been found to be 200 series steel. Another deceitful tactic involves reducing the wall thickness of the piping to cut costs. However, employing thinner gauge materials compromises the product's strength and can lead to premature cracking. We have witnessed instances where piping advertised as 16 gauge actually measured as 18 or even 20 gauge.
